After having a twice (or maybe more than that) hand-me-down coffee table and end table since we were engaged, we decided we were due for new living room furniture. I mean, as much as we love the beaten up table with dog nail scratches and chipping lacquer, it’s time to move on to greener pastures. ha.

We just went browsing tonight, and, as always happens when we’re “just looking”, we found a 3-piece occassional table set – for half price. Score! Of course today was the last day of the sale, and we liked the set a lot (especially for the price), so it should be delivered in 8-10 days.

I also found a console table for the entry way, which I think is going to make the entry way look tons better. Right now it’s completely empty…no art work, no furniture, no personality.

Not sure what’s with the interior design bug that seems to have bitten me, but I’m loving it!

The planning continues

Free time + my Photoshop obsession = lots of mock-ups for our den renovation. Perhaps it wasn’t the best use of free time this weekend, but hey, it was fun. I found a picture of our office before we moved in (so the walls are blank, no furniture in the room, no curtains, etc), and played around with possible paint colors and furniture layouts for the room. The bedding will obviously be different to go with the room, but it’s neat to see how the room might look.

Here are a few of my favorite color options. Any thoughts?

Grocery shopping adventures

E ran to the grocery store at lunch today (he’s so helpful) to pick up a few things we need. Since I ran out of shaving cream this morning, I asked him to pick me up some more (it must be Murphy’s law that you run out of shaving cream while you’re in the middle of shaving your legs).

When he walked in with grocery bags tonight, I wasn’t sure if he’d even remembered to pick up the requested item. But not only did he remember, he actually got the brand I normally get in a good scent (raspberry something or other)!

His comment? “It was easy – I just read the labels and picked the one that I thought would taste the best.”

Whatever works, I guess.

Phone lust

I’ve had my eye on the LG Dare for a few months now. But the cost was more than I wanted to spend (what can I say – I’m cheap). Then one of my friends got it over the weekend and not only loved it but said the price had come down. So I decided I had to have it.

Trip 1 to the store: Waited in line forever. Salesperson was unhelpful and inattentive. (Which is strange…I have to believe they work on commission). I left.

Trip 2 to the store: Ready to buy – credit card is in hand. The sales rep talks me out of buying because “there’s a new promotion starting on Monday. I can’t tell you what it is, but it could save you $40-$50 bucks.” Basically it sounded like the phone I want is going on sale next week, so I should wait to buy. So I walk out empty-handed. Again.

Why doesn’t anyone want me to spend money!?

Feeling inspired

I haven’t liked our home office since we moved in three years ago. We didn’t really have a plan for the room (other than for it to be the office), and we were in a hurry to get everything moved in, so we quickly painted and tossed in furniture. The painting of that room was a disaster, and not only do I hate the color, but it’s also a horrendous paint job. (Seriously…do not paint on the hottest and most humid day in July). And with two desks, a twin bed and a dresser, there’s way too much furniture in an otherwise small and awkwardly shaped room.

I kept hoping I’d be inspired to do something “better” with the room, but we were busy fixing up the rest of the house and that just became the room-of-stuff. Fast forward to today, and the inspiration finally hit. Better late than never, I guess.

I spent the better part of the evening looking at pictures online and creating a story board for the room:

I’m torn between using a tan or light sage paint for the walls – any thoughts? It’ll probably be another weekend or two before we can get started, but I’m excited all the same! (And maybe I’ll actually want to spend time in there now!)
